24 High Street Coton: a before and after transformation

At the beginning of this year we were approached to stage a large show home in Coton, Cambridge. From the get go the client was keen to stage this property as they wanted to show prospective buyers its full potential.

One of the main issues the client had was that the bedrooms were a funny shape and had very high vaulted ceilings, which made the floor space look a lot smaller than it was. Once staged, they inevitably looked more spacious.

The end result of this property was a stylish and modern looking show home that maximised the space available.

Open-plan living space

The open-plan living room was a big space to fill. We wanted to incorporate a cosy lounge area as well as a place for friends and family to dine.

The large sliding doors offer lots of beautiful natural light, so we knew we could afford to play with the colour palette. We opted for dark grey sofas with pops of orange and green to make the space feel energetic and vibrant.

Kitchen area

The size of this show home allowed for a large open-plan kitchen with a statement marble island in the middle of it. There’s no doubt that this will be a major selling point.

Because the space is quite big, we wanted to make sure it didn’t feel empty so we introduced a cosy seating area with two brown leather armchairs, a Berber style rug and a TV unit.

Bedroom with en-suite

The main bedroom features a large Velux window, French doors and a sizeable en-suite. The client was concerned that the vaulted ceiling would make this bedroom feel small so we created the illusion of more space by keeping things minimal and adding pops of colour.

White gloss furniture with statement accessories keeps the room feeling modern.

Spare bedroom

Once again, this bedroom proved to be a bit of a challenge because of the sloped ceiling and awkward alcoves. However, we knew this could be fixed with clever staging.

We used the bed as the focal point of the room and utilised the space between the alcoves by strategically placing a chest of drawers there. This doesn’t just fill the space but it also offers handy storage.

Small bedroom

Sometimes the best thing to do with smaller spaces is to not shy away from the fact it is small but to add wow-factor instead to distract the eye. That’s exactly what we did with this bedroom.

We chose a statement rattan headboard that really sets the tone for the entire room and accessorised with wooden bedside tables and deep blue soft furnishings.
